James Michael Wakely Sr.
James Michael Wakely, 80, a
retired millwright for Local 264, where he worked for
years, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Dexter
House Nursing Home in Malden. James
was born and raised in Everett, attending the Everett school system.
After high school, he enlisted on October 17, 1942, in the Army to help
fight in WWII. He served in the
Army during World War II having attained the rank of Tech 5.
He became a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, and fought in
Pacific Theatre. He was Discharged
in 1946, and he returned home to marry his wife Judith (Harring), with whom he
shared the next 32 years.
He
worked as a Millwright for the Local 264 International Machinist Union, where he
built machinery for many different companies, including at American Can, and
Herald Record American. He retired
from the Union in 1972. James
was also an avid baseball fan.
Mr.
Wakely lived in Malden for the past 24 years, and had previously lived in
Dorchester and Everett.
He is survived by sons, Richard J.
Wakely of Malden, and Michael J. Wakely of
Lynn, and grandchildren Richard, Timothy, Joanne, Lisa, and Jamie.
He
was preceded in death by his wife Judith (Harring) , his father Michael Wakely,
and his mother Helen (Brady).
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Sunday from 7-9 PM
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at
Sacred Hearts Church. Rev. Daniel J. Hickey, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church will
be officiating. Burial will be in
the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
