Dorothy M. J. (James) Ward of Malden died Monday, December 25, 2006 at the
Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, she was 88. Born on September 24, 1918 in
Malden, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Ethel (Halverson) James.
Dorothy was raised and educated in Malden. She graduated from Malden High School
with the Class of 1937. Dorothy married her sweetheart, Leonard H. Ward, in
1941 and the couple settled in Malden to raise their family. They spent over 47
years in marriage together, raising and caring for their family until Leonard’s
passing in 1988. Dorothy worked for many years as a salesperson. She worked
for many jewelers throughout her career and she spent many years working for
companies located right in Malden. Dorothy was a current member of the
Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden. She had been a member for well over 50
years. In addition, Dorothy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star
in Melrose. Dorothy’s greatest passion was her family. She truly enjoyed
spending time with them. Mrs. Ward had been a life-long resident of Malden.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Judith M. Taylor of Toms River, NJ, Lenore
W. Bezanson of North Carver, MA, and Merrilyn L. Trubiano of Wakefield, her
sister, Phyllis King of Maine, her nine grandchildren, her seven
great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A
funeral service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem St. Malden on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 10 AM. Rev. Laurence Taylor
will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial
Park, Peabody.
Visitation will be held in the
funeral home on Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 3 to 7 PM.
