William Henry Welch Jr.

     William H. Welch, Jr. “Wally” of Malden died at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2007, he was 62.  Born on May 10, 1944 in Malden, he was the son of William H. Sr. and Theresa (Caso) Welch.  Bill was raised and educated in Malden and was graduate of Malden High School with the Class of 1963.  After high school, Bill spent three years studying accounting at Burdette College.  Bill entered into the US Army to help fight for his country during the Vietnam War.  He was sent into active duty on February 28, 1969 and then was discharged on January 21, 1970.  Bill married his sweetheart, Angela (Colagiovanni), on April 25, 1971.  The couple spent over 35 years in marriage together, raising and caring for their family.  Bill was employed with the U.S. Post Office.  Before he took employment with them, he worked a couple of various jobs such as running a bread distribution company and installing storm windows.  Bill worked with the Post Office in Boston on Chauncey St. and was currently employed there.  Bill was a past Commander of the VFW in Revere, Mottola Post #4524.  He was also a member of the Elks of Malden.  Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially the White Mountains.  He loved camping and was an avid fisherman.  Bill also was a big football fan.  His greatest joy was his family.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  Bill had been a life-long resident of Malden. 

     Bill is survived by his wife Angela Welch of Malden, his children, Jennifer and her husband, John Stelmach of Malden and William H. Welch, III and his wife, Melissa, of Dracut, his sisters, Claire A. and her husband, Gerald Cormier of Burlington and Barbara Solomon of Rockland, his granddaughter, Ashley Stelmach of Malden as well as many nieces and nephews.

     Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 7:45AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St. Malden at 9 AM.  Rev. Richard T. Bakker of St. Joseph's Church will be the celebrant.  Burial will immediately follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 from 4 to 8 PM.

     In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the MGH Development Office, Cancer Center Fund, 165 Cambridge St. Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
