                                                                       Frederick Ernest Whitehouse

 

    Frederick E. Whitehouse,  died Tuesday morning,  July 31, 2007 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, he was 89.  Born on February 4, 1918 the son of the late Ernest & Ethel (Lyddon) Whitehouse. Fred was born in Lynn and raised in Tewksbury and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1935.  Fred served his country for over twenty years with the U S Army Air Corp and the U S Air Force, serving in World War II, Korea & Vietnam. He was discharged on September 30, 1962 with the rank of Technical Sergeant E-6.

    Fred worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an insurance salesman, for many years and would later retire in 1977. Mr. Whitehouse went on to work for the I.R.S., in their Boston office.   

     In his earlier years, he loved playing tennis and was an avid golfer and Red Sox and Patriots fan. Fred enjoyed visiting his son Joe, when he was away at college at U Mass, Amherst, a trip he made many times. Fred had been a resident of Malden for the last forty-five years and was formerly from Tewksbury and Lynn.

    He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Margaret (Cuscuna) Whitehouse, his daughters Rhonda Patterson of Bluffton, SC, Debra A. Kemp of San Anselmo, CA and his son, Joseph J. Whitehouse of Ipswich, his brother John Whitehouse of Tewksbury. Fred was the grandfather of six grandchildren and two great –grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Whitehouse, formerly of California.

    Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from, 11-2 PM.  A reflection of Fred’s life with his family and friends will take place at 1 PM. 

In lieu of flowers contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler St., Boston, MA 02116.
