Philip Frederic Waltman
Philip F. “Phil”
Waltman, 61, died Saturday morning, November 19, 2005 at his home in Malden.
Phil was born in Portland, ME, the son of the late Harold C. Waltman Sr. and
Doris F. (Smart) Waltman.
Phil was raised in
Steuben, ME and was a graduate of the Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan,
ME. After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam with
the Air Rescue of the 1883rd Medical Service Squad Headquarters Command. He
served from January 1964-July 1967 and received the Air Medal, Presidential Unit
Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal. Phil was discharged as an Airman First Class. After his
discharge Phil became an HVAC technician working in the heating and cooling
industry for many years.
In his spare time
he enjoyed hunting, glass etching and country & western music. He was a life
time member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. He was a Provost
Guard with the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington for many years and was a member of
the Joseph Webb Masonic Lodge, Boston. He was a reservist with the Middlesex
Sheriff Department and had been a resident of Malden for the last thirty-five
years.
He is survived by his wife,
Frances A. (Young) Waltman and his daughter Fay W. Howell of Lynn, and his
brother Harold C. Waltman Jr. of S. Portland, ME.
Visitation will be held at the
Weir -MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Monday,
November 21st. from 6-9 PM
In lieu of flowers the family
has asked for contributions in Phil’s memory be made to the Aleppo Temple
Shrine, 99 Fordham St. Wilmington, MA 01887.
Funeral services
will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The
Rev. Paul C. Mc Pheeters of the Forestdale Community Church will be
officiating.
