Herbert Austin
Willey
Herbert A. Willey, 88, died Sunday February 27, 2005 at the Meadow
Green Nursing Home in Waltham after a long illness. He was born
August 27, 1916 in Malden, MA the son of Cleve and Elizabeth
(Presley) Willey. Mr. Willey was educated in Malden and
attended classes at Harvard University in Boston. In 1943,
Herb married his love, Constance V. Blomerth, in St. Paul's
Episcopal Parish. He went off to serve
in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant with the 503 Military Police
Battalion. Following his service to his country, the couple stayed
in Malden and raised their two daughters. Herbert and Connie spent
the next fifty-nine years together. Connie later passed on in
2003. Mr. Willey's working career spanned many years, working for
the General Electric Co., Raytheon, Co. and as a liaison working
with the Department of Commerce in Boston from 1948 to 1968. In
1962, Herb started a business endeavor. He saw the vision and the
need to start a Data Processing company in Wakefield. He developed
the business over the next forty-one years, until it's closing in
2002. He also purchased a data processing company in England that
processed medical billing outside the country. This helped speed up
his processing time and would increase business. Herb owned real
estate properties in Wakefield that kept him busy developing and
managing the buildings. Herb’s daughters, Pam & Andrea, remember
their father was always the guy that was thinking outside of the
box, always ahead of the curve.
He is
survived by his daughters, Pamela A. Manahan of Malden and
Andrea C. Willey of Wakefield, his sisters, Stella Syska of ME and
Esther Smith of NH, his cherished grandchildren, Scott J. Manahan
of Salem and Heather M. Manahan of FL, and his great-grandson Rowan
Manahan.
He
was preceded in death by his wife Constance V. Blomerth, his father
Cleve Willey, and his mother Elizabeth Presley, his brothers, Edwin
Willey, Lawrence Willey, Lionel Willey, and Kenneth Willey.
