Irene Catherine Zardis
Irene Catherine Zardis,
78, a retired registered nurse for Home for Little Wanderers, where she
worked for years, died Tuesday,
January 08, 2002 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Irene was born and raised in Chelsea. She attended and graduated from the St. Rose School.
After graduating, she studied nursing at Holy Ghost Hospital, and
received her degree. She worked as
a nurse in NY for some time, and then returned to the Boston area and worked at
the Home for Little Wanderers for many years, until her retirement.
She was a dedicated member of St. Josephs Parish in Malden,
and also a past member of the Catholic Daughters of St. Joseph.
In recent years, ailments limited her activities, but she still enjoyed
knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles, as well as catching her favorite game
shows on TV. Mrs. Zardis lived in
Malden for the past 45 Years.
She is survived by her son Stephen J. Zardis of Brockton,
her sisters Madelyn Graham of
Saugus, MA, Marylou Crannell of Malden, Florence Baker
of Malden, Elizabeth Marshall of
Brockton, Patricia Bishop of
Everett, and her brothers John Mac Farlane
of California, James Mac Farlane of
Malden, Charles Mac Farlane
of Chelsea, and Robert Mac Farlane of
Revere.
She was preceded in death by her husband Manny, her father
John Mac Farlane, her mother Catherine Mc Arthur, as well as
5 Brothers, and 4 Sisters.
She was born October 14, 1923 in Chelsea, Massachusetts the
daughter of John and Catherine (Mc Arthur) Mac Farlane.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden, on Friday
from 4-8 PM
Donations in Irenes memory may be made to St. Joseph's
Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden, MA 02148
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10:00
AM, with
Rev. John A. Daley, Pastor of St. Joseph's Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
