Arlene Julia Callahan-Sibley

  

     Arlene J. (McCready) Callahan-Sibley died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, she was 79.  Born on June 19, 1929 in Barre, VT, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (McKane) McCready.  Arlene was raised and educated in Barre and was a graduate of Spaulding High School in Barre.  She married her first love, Thomas F. Callahan, in 1950 and were together until his untimely passing 1972.  Arlene was fortunate to find love again when she married, Robert J. Sibley in 1975.  The couple spent over 22 years together until Robert’s passing in 1997.  Arlene worked for over 30 years as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone Co. in Malden until she retired in the late 1980’s.  Arlene loved to dance and enjoy any free time she had. She enjoyed nothing more then to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children.

     Arlene is survived her children, Thomas W. Callahan and his wife Nancy A. of Malden, Patricia M. Callahan and Debra J. Willcox, both of Malden, and Janice M. Petrucci and her husband Wayne of Lynnfield, her grandchildren, Thomas, Shannon, and Katelyn Callahan, all of Malden, Rene Holderman of ME, Nicole Emerson of VT, Joseph Wedge of Somerville, Dennis Willcox of Everett, Julie Turner of Malden, and Samantha and Karlee Petrucci, both of Lynnfield as well as 8 loving great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her husbands and parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Fournier, Helen Burr, and Ralph McCready.

     Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 9 AM  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Parish, 297 Main Street, Malden at 10 AM.  Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
