Maude Hunt Cann

Charolotte
Maude Hunt Cann, 104, a retired teacher from Lincoln Elementary
in Malden, where she worked for over 30 years, died Friday,
January 28, 2011 at the Greystone Farm in Salem, New Hampshire.
She was born in 1906 in Winchester, MA, the daughter of Sumner
and Florence (Brown) Hunt. Charlotte was raised and educated in
Stoneham, graduating from Stoneham High with the Class of 1924.
She then attended Bridgewater State College where she received
her Bachelors degree in Education. She worked as a substitute
teacher for a time before taking a permanent position at the
Lincoln Elementary School in Malden. She stayed there as a
teacher for 32 years, until her retirement in 1960.
In 1931,
Charlotte married her sweetheart, John W.H. Cann. They shared
almost 60 years together until Johns passing in 1990. Charlotte
enjoyed traveling, and watching sports, especially hockey and
baseball. She also like crossword puzzles and was skilled at
knitting and crocheting. She also appreciated and valued
sitting down with the family for dinners together.
Charlotte is
survived by her daughters, Shirley L. Bradley of Andover, and
Marilyn McLaughlin of Salem, NH, aw well as six grandchildren,
seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, John,W.H. Cann, her parents,
Sumner and Florence (Brown) Hunt; and her 2 siblings Richard
Hunt and Doris Kent
Visitation
will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden on Tuesday, Feb 1st, from 10:00 AM to 12:00
PM, with a funeral service beginning at 12 Noon. Interment to
follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
