Alice Eunice
Carman, 85, an operator for N.E. Tel & Tel/Southern Bell, where
she worked for years, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at Mc
Fadden Memorial Manor in Malden, Massachusetts. Alice was born
and raised in Everett. She graduated from Everett High School
with the class of 1941. Alice worked for the telephone company
for many years as an operator. She worked for NE Telephone &
Telegraph locally and for Southern Bell on Florida. She was a
member of the Pioneer Club of America in both Malden and Ft.
Lauderdale recognizing her 25 years of service. Alice was also
a longtime member of the Mystic Side Congregational Church, and
she was a past member of the Daughters of Rebecca. Mrs. Carman
lived in Malden, Massachusetts for over 30 years, and had
previously spent over 30 yrs. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as well.
She is
survived by her children, Allan M. Carman Sr. and fiancé Cindy
Gianquitto of Wakefield, and Gale L. Fitzpatrick of Malden, her
grandchildren, Allan M. Carman Jr. of N. Andover, Scott D.
Carman of Melrose, Kelly P. Rufo of Malden, Hugh J. Fitzpatrick
of Tewksbury, and Brian S. Fitzpatrick of Peabody, and her great
grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Corey, Jessica, Samantha, and
Brian.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Nathan M. Carman Jr., her
parents, Joseph and Mary (Osgood) Leary, her brother Joseph
Leary, her sister Eugene Leary, and her granddaughter Corinne
Dows.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden, on Sunday, Jan 25th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM
Funeral
services will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Mackie will be
officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery
in Malden.
