Allan Meade
Carman, Sr.
Allan “Al” M. Carman, Sr. of Wakefield, formerly of Malden, died
Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in
Burlington, he was 59. Born on October 24, 1949 in Everett, he
was the son of the late Nathan P. and Alice E. (Leary) Carman.
Al was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School
with the Class of 1968. Al then went on to attend Northeastern
University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of History degree
with the Class of 1973. Al’s love of history served him well as
a Civilian Naval employee for over 39 years, consequently
leading him aboard the U.S.S. Constitution as Assistant
Financial Officer. He retired from “Old Ironsides” in July of
2009 as Chief Financial Officer, where he oversaw the entire
business operations of the ship.
Al married his Soul Mate, Cindy J. Gianquitto on June 26, 2009
in Malden. Al was an avid coin collector and Boston sports
fan. He was a member of, and sat on The Board of Directors for
the Dave Powers Foundation in Charlestown. He was also a
communicant and the treasurer of the Mystic Side Congregational
Church in Everett.
Al is survived by his wife, Cindy J. (Fournier) (Gianquitto)
Carman of Wakefield, his sons, Allan M. Carman, Jr. and his
wife, Holly LaRossa-Carman of North Andover and Scott D. Carman
of Melrose, his daughters, Stefanie and Jessica Gianquitto, both
of Malden and Stacey and Lauren Gianquitto, both of Wakefield,
his sister, Gail Fitzpatrick of Malden, and his grandchildren,
Eddie Egan, III and Alexa Gianquitto, both of Malden.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 10
AM at the Mystic Side Congregational Church, 420 Main Street,
Everett. Rev. Robert Mackie, Pastor of the Mystic Side
Congregational Church will be officiating. Interment to follow
in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Visitation
will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 4 to 8 PM.
