Joan Eleanor  Carr

 

Joan E. “Dodi” (Morgan) Carr, 75, a  longtime resident of Malden, passed away at her home in N. Reading, with her family by her side. She was born April 16, 1935 in Everett,, Massachusetts the daughter of  David and Marion Morgan.   She graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1953.  In 1956, she married her sweetheart, Harry A. Carr Jr, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family.  They shared over 35 years together until Harry’s passing in 1992.   Aside from her role as a housewife and mother, Joan also worked at the Canterbury School in Wakefield as a  Teachers Aide, as well as being a Sunday School Teacher at Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden. 

Joan was a very active member of Sacred Hearts.  In addition to her Sunday School teaching, she also taught adult religious education, and was in the church choir.  She also enjoyed reading and gardening, was a skilled baker, and an avid collector of things.        

She is survived by her children, Nancy J. Carr of New Hampshire, David J. Carr  of Danvers, Robert J. Carr of N. Reading, Amy J. Nigro-LeBlanc of North Reading, and  Aileen L. Ramsey of NH., her step-children Thomas Carr of Wakefield, and Carole Peacock of Ohio, her sisters,  Anne Throop of Medford, Patricia Miner of Melrose, and Janice Flynn of Salem, NH., as well as 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Harry A. Carr Jr., and her sister Lois Landers

Funeral services will be held from the Weir Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 18th, at 8AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church at 9AM.   Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
