Glenn William Connor
Glenn
William Connor, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away
Saturday, April 18th, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington,
surrounded by his loving family. Glenn was born in Medford and
was raised and educated in Malden. After graduating from Malden
High School, he joined the Merchant Marines. He served
throughout WWII and stayed on for a total of 20 years. He
retired from the Merchant Marines as Chief Engineer. Glenn then
went to work for INA insurance, which eventually merged with
Cigna Insurance. He worked in their loss control department for
25 years until his retirement. Wanting to keep busy, Glenn also
became a Certified Inspector for carnival rides, which helped
him keep busy in his spare time. In the past, Glenn really
enjoyed fishing, he also was an avid bridge player and was and
enthusiastic Red Sox fan. He was a loving husband and father
who was loved by all for his sense of humor.
He is survived
by his wife, Helen Connor of Malden, his daughter, Stacey
Connor of Stoneham, and his brothers-in-law, Edward Stanton and
wife Ellen of Reading, John Stanton of Wakefield, and Robert
Stanton and wife Barbara of Wakefield.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Ella (Hindle)
Connor, his brother Norman Connor, his sister-in-law Mary Soucy,
and brother-in-law James Stanton.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,
Malden, on Tuesday, April 21st, from 4-8 PM
Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at
the Weir MacCuish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St.
Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham..
