Helen Connor
Helen
Connor, a longtime resident of Malden, died Monday,
November 23, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston. Helen was born and raised in Wakefield. She graduated
from Wakefield High with the Class of 1947. After school, Helen
traveled to Texas and spent a year there before returning to the
area. She began working as an administrative assistant, and
had worked for many years for High Voltage Engineering in
Burlington. In May of 1969, she and Glenn Connor were married.
They shared nearly 40 years together, and only seven months apart
as he had passed away this past April. When her daughter was
born, she focused on raising her and stopped working outside the
home. After her daughter grew older, she got her real estate
license and opened her own Agency in Melrose. Even after
retiring from her agency, she would often take small “temp”
jobs just to keep herself busy.
Helen was an
avid bridge player, and would often travel to the different
Senior Centers to play with friends. She also enjoyed line
dancing and yoga. Helen most enjoyed spending time with family
and friends, having dinners out and traveling. She and her
family also summered for over 20 years on Agawam Lake in
Wareham. Helen was also a long time dedicated Red Sox fan.
She is
survived by her loving daughter, Stacey Connor of Stoneham, her
brothers, Edward Stanton and wife Ellen of Reading, John
Stanton of Wakefield, and Robert and wife Barbara Stanton of
Wakefield, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her husband Glenn W. Connor, her parents,
Edward and Bridget (Roach) Staunton, her sister Mary Soucy, and
her brother James Stanton.
