Matthew Joseph Costa

Matthew J. “Teo” Costa, 83, a  longtime resident of Everett, passed away on Tues, Dec 13th, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Medford. 

He was born in January of, 1928 in East Boston, Massachusetts the son of Camillo and Rose (Modica) Costa. Matthew was raised in East Boston and Medford.  After completing his education, Matthew began bartending in the Boston area.  He, along with his bothers had owned different nightclubs over the years, including the "Blue Mirror" in Charlestown.  He later got his medallion and began driving a cab in Boston.  In November of 1965, he married his sweetheart, Carol Johnson.  The two enjoyed traveling around to different locations including Florida and Acapulco.      

He is survived by his wife Carol (Johnson), his daughters,  Denise Iacoviello and husband Anthony of Lynnfield, and  Kelly Costa  of Everett, his siblings,  Daniel Costa of Everett,  Rosemary Nigro of Reading,  Mario Costa of Saugus, and Anthony Costa of Boston,  and his grandchildren, Ashley, Alexandria, and  Christian.

Teo was preceded in death by his parents, Camillo and Rose Costa; his 2 brothers Camillo Costa, his  Peter Costa; and his sisters Theresa Sacchetti and Angie Gosstein

Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Thurs, Dec 15th, from 4 – 7 PM.  All other funeral services will be private.
