Mary Christina Cox
Mary
C. Cox, died Monday afternoon September 28, 2009 at the Golden Living Center
in Malden, she was 91. Mary was born in Middleboro, MA and was the daughter of
the late Steven J. & Mary A. (Gibbons) Cox. Mary was educated in the Chelsea
school system and was a graduate of Chelsea High School Class of 1941. Mary
lived in Malden for many years with her two brothers John & Joseph.
For
the next thirty years Mary was employed with the Corning Glass Works of
Franklin, MA as an assembly line worker, setting the electronics and electrical
works in their products. She later retired in 1984.
Mary
was considered a home body, and was a talented seamstress; she enjoyed making her own clothes as well
as knitting, sewing and crocheting. She was always caring for her two brothers
and her extended family the Smiths, they all lived in the same house on Starbird
Street in Malden. The Smith’s were her family and she enjoyed helping out when
needed. Mary was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Mary is survived by her
longtime dear friend Louise Elliott of Everett, and the Smith Girls, Lynn A.
O’Leary & Donna L. Clough both of Wilmington, Karen Mallirdo of Dracut and
Debra Hussey of Saugus.
She was preceded in death by
her brothers Joseph S. Cox, and John F. Cox.
Funeral service will be
private with entombment in the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.
