Helen M. Cox,
a longtime resident of Malden, died Sunday evening, March 8th,
at the age of 100, at the Golden Living Center, Dexter House in
Malden. Helen was the daughter of Edward & Marcelena (Hogan).
She graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1927.
After high school, she attended Burdett College of Business for
2 years. When she graduated from college, she took employment
with the Morgan - Kingman - Lewis Insurance Company, formerly of
Boston. Helen had worked in the insurance industry as a
secretary for 60 years. Helen was a member of St. Joseph's
Church for over 85 years. Helen spent many years seeing to the
care of her sister Alice and would visit her every day when she
had moved into a nursing home.
She is
survived by her sister, Mary E. Ureneck of Dorchester, her
nephews, Michael Ureneck of Plymouth, , Peter and Joseph
Ureneck of Dorchester, her niece, Mary (Ureneck) Neuzil of FL,
and her beloved friend, Lori Sullivan of Malden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and
Marcelena (Hogan) Cox, and her sister, Alice Cox.
Funeral
services will be held from the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, March 12, at 9:00
A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's
Church at 10AM. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery in
Wakefield.
Visitation
will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11th,
from 4-8 PM.
