CARLETON WILLIAM CRANE (Whitey), 74, passed away on January 21, 2011. He resided in Andover, MA, with his beloved wife of 39 years, Gloria F. Crane. He was the loving father of Stephanie Meehan, son-in-law Robert Meehan, and granddaughters Rachael and Christina. In addition, Carl had three sisters-in-law, Mary, Jeanette, Terri, one brother-in-law, Joe, nine nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew. He served in the Marine Reserves, was employed by RCA, where he worked on the Lunar Excursion Module for the Apollo Space Program, and at AT&T for twenty-two years as a Communications Technician and Special Financial Troubleshooter. After retiring, Carl continued his career at Lucent Technologies and Textron, Inc., where he was an Inspector. He also volunteered as a Teachers’ Aid at the Sanborn Grammar School and in the Andover Town Office. Carl enjoyed boating, dancing, sports, and also had an interest in hotrods, Lionel trains, and model World War II Airplanes. Carl will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Carl’s funeral. Visiting hours will be held at the Weir Funeral Home, at 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA, on Friday, January 28, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Weir Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., and interment at the Holy Cross Cemetery, in Malden, MA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Carl’s memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
