Mersereau Crosby
Paul
Mersereau Crosby, 91, a retired engineer for Cambridge Electric,
where he worked for 30 years, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at
the Winchester Hospital in Winchester. Paul was born in
Blissfield, N.B. Canada and came to the United States in 1921,
settling in Melrose with his parents and brothers. Paul was
educated in the Melrose school system and was a graduate of
Melrose High School, Class of 1938. In October of 1940, he
joined the US Army and saw service in East Indies, Papua,
Guadalcanal, New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. He was a
Staff Sergeant and Communications Chief with Headquarters Co.
Service Command Unit 1114. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal
and other medals and ribbons for his service to his country.
Paul was discharged in August of 1945. After the war, he
worked for Cambridge Electric, first as a mechanic and later as
an Electrical Engineer with the power sales department. He
received his schooling at Franklin Institute in Boston and Nela
Park Lighting Institute in Cleveland, OH where he took different
courses in design and lighting systems. He was with Cambridge
Electric for thirty-years and retired in 1982. Mr. Crosby lived
in Malden for the past 57 years and was previously from Melrose.
He is survived
by his children, David F. and his wife, Jane D. Crosby of
Malden, Paula J. Greene of Malden, Melissa A. Crosby of
Malden, as well as seven grandchildren, and thirteen
great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren.
He was
preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy F. (Knowles), his
parents, Ernest and Annabel (Mersereau) Crosby, and his
brothers, Arthur, Donald, and Ted Crosby and his sister, Vina
Rogers.

Funeral
services will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule, 144
Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10AM.
Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in
Malden will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale
Cemetery in Malden.
Visitation
will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 29, 2208
from 4 – 8 PM.
