Marshall
S. Dana, 82, Life long resident of Malden, died peacefully on Friday, March
27th, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Born in Malden on March 26, 1927, he was the son of the
late William and Frieda Dana. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy.
During his service time he was stationed on the Naval Destroyers USS Ordronaux,
a submarine hunter, and the USS Rowe, part of the Fifth Fleet patrolling the
pacific with the USS Ticonderoga. He was honorably discharged in
1946. For many years he owned a barber shop in Malden. Through his lifetime he
found enjoyment in golfing, bowling, home cooked meals, watching football or
baseball, and spending time with his friends and family. Marshall was a
Founding Father of Club 24 in Malden, and was also a member of the
American Legion Post 69 in Malden and Malden DAV Post 85.
Marshall is survived by two children, a daughter Marsha
Alpers of Florida, a son William James and his wife Shayna of Middleton,
step-father to Shirley Collins and her husband Brian of Maine, Richard Ricupero
and his wife Sally of Winthrop, six grandchildren, Kim Dimaro and her husband
Michael of Malden, Thomas J. Digiantommaso and his wife Manouchka of New
Hampshire, Daniel Alpers of Florida, Jordan, Lindsey, and Michael Dana of
Middleton. He was the great grandfather of seven. . He was also the father of
the late Glenda Beckwith, step-father of the late Susan Ricupero and
father-in-law of the late Daniel Alpers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours
at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Monday, March 30th, from
4 - 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held privately for the family. In Lieu of
flowers, contributions in Marshall's memory may be made to the McFadden Manor,
