William Paul DiNunzio

 

     William P. DiNunzio,   died Thursday morning January 7, 2010 in the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Melrose, he was 79.  Bill was born in the North End of Boston on April 19, 1930 the son of Pasquale & Camella (Marciano) DiNunzio. Bill was educated in the Boston Schools and was a graduate of the Commerce High School in Boston, Class of 1947.

     Bill joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma during peace time. When he returned home for leave he married his sweetheart, Lucille M. Travers. The couple married on July 24, 1955 in Cambridge and would later settle in Malden and raise a family.  The couple was married over fifty-five years until Bill’s passing.

     Bill worked for the former American Biltrite Rubber, of Chelsea as a Traffic Manager for twenty-five years. After retirement Bill took employment with the City of Malden as a Crossing Guard. Bill could be seen daily at his crossing post at the corner of Sylvan & Lebanon St. in Malden for over ten years.

     In his spare time Bill enjoyed playing all card games or watching a good movie on television. He was mostly a family man that loved and cherished time with his family and loved to tell a good joke or story.

     Bill is survived by his loving wife Lucille M. (Travers) DiNunzio, his children Laura L. Murray and her husband Ken of Malden, Paul J. DiNunzio and his wife Jacquelyn of Tewksbury and Donna M. Vining and her husband Steven of Saugus. Bill was the cherished grandfather of  Donna M. Little and her husband Jeffrey of Leominster, Matthew D. McComb of North Reading, Cory T. Vining of Saugus and Sydney F. DiNunzio of Tewksbury and  great-grandfather of Jenna & Justin Little.

     Funeral service for Bill will be held in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Monday, January 11, 2010, at 2 PM. Contributions in Bill’s memory  may be made to a charity of ones choice.

     Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service from 12- 2 PM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.  For obituary and directions: www.weirfuneralhome.com.
