Diane May Silva

July 7, 1942 - August 31, 2008

 

     Diane M. (Ellis) Silva, died Sunday morning, August 31, 2008 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family was at her bedside, she was 66. She was born on July 7, 1942 the daughter of the Eleanor E. (Bambury) Ellis of  NH & the late George N. Ellis. Diane was born in Malden and educated in the Malden school system, graduating from Malden High School with “The Class of 1960”.

      Diane worked for Automatic Radio of Melrose as a department supervisor where she was employed for thirteen years. Diane then enrolled in the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield where she studied to become a licensed practical nurse. When she received her license she worked at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford and several area nursing homes before retiring in September of 2004.  Before her illness she worked six and a half years as a cashier for the D & D Produce Company on Broadway, in Malden.  Diane and Frank were married on July 17, 1983 in the Christ United Methodist Church, Malden and shared twenty-five years together.

 She was a longtime member of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church of Malden and the Malden Y.W.C.A. Diane had been a lifelong Malden resident.

       She is survived by her loving husband Frank Silva of Malden, her daughter Lisa Evans of Maine, her stepsons Frank Silva of NH, Stephen Silva of Danvers, Joseph Silva of Chelmsford, David Silva of Tewksbury. Diane was the loving sister of Eleanor Pirello of NH, Faith De Matteo of Malden, Georgia Lezcano of Revere, G. Paul Ellis  of Watertown, Wanda Ellis  of NH and Carolyn Ellis  of Lynn, Cherished grandmother of  seven  grandchildren  and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9.

Contributions in Diane’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church, 577 Salem St.  Malden, MA  02148.  

      Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Good Shepard United Methodist Church, 577 Salem St.  Malden, MA  02148.   The Rev. Ruth R. Oduor Pastor will be officiating.  Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody  following  cremation on Friday, September 12, 2008.
