Jeannette B. Doherty

1932- 2009

Jeannette Bernice Doherty died Friday night, February 20, 2009 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose.  She was 76.  Jeannette was born on February 22, 1932 in Malden.  She is the daughter of the late Mitilda and Harold O’Rourke of Malden.  Jeanette was married to the former Thomas Leavitt Doherty for 28 years when they shortly started their family.

Jeannette worked for Intercity Care in Malden, as a homemaker for over 18 years.  Jeannette enjoyed her family, maintaining her own home, baking her specialty pies, her gardening, knitting and especially her days spent at the beach.  She also loved staying in touch with the elders that she cared for after her retirement.  One of Jeannette’s favorite routines was having a Friday afternoon with her dear sister-in-law Margaret, whether it was having lunch or just running errands.  The simple things in life made Jeannette very happy.  We admired her independence and her time that she gave to all of us.

She is survived by her 4 devoted sons, William Doherty of Everett, Michael Doherty of Revere, Richard Doherty of Saugus, John Doherty and his wife Linda of Peabody, her daughter-in-law Judy Tenaglia and her husband Dave of Melrose along with her 6 loving grandchildren, Ryan of Las Vegas, Keith of Wisconsin, Thomas and Meghan of Malden and Madison and Jake of Peabody.

Family and Friends are welcome for visiting hours for Jeannette at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Monday, February 23, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. followed by an Interment at the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
