Elizabeth Louise Durgin
Elizabeth Louise Durgin, 76, of Medford, formerly a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was born June 22, 1935 in Malden, Massachusetts the daughter of Leroy R. and Beatrice M. (Phelps) Blake. Betty was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High with the Class of 1953. After high school she attended Malden Business School. She was a long time member of the Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden, and had lived in Malden most of her life before moving to Medford almost 15 years ago. Betty had worked for many years at the Malden Taxi Company, where she did general office work including payroll and data entry in the computer systems. She is survived by her sons, Daniel L. Durgin of Waltham, and David V. Durgin of Medford,. Betty was preceded in death by her father Leroy R. Blake; her mother Beatrice M. Blake; her 3 brothers George E. Blake, her Raymond C. Blake, her Roy R. Blake; and her sister Mabel B. Burns Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3rd, at 10:00 AM, at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. |
