Edward Joseph Casey
Edward Joseph Casey, 83, a retired police
officer for City of Malden, where he worked for 33 years, died
Saturday, July 21, at The Melrose Nursing and Rehab Center in
Melrose. Edward was born in St. Johns, New Brunswick, Canada,
and came to the US at an early age, moving to the Chelsea area.
He graduated from the Immaculate School in Chelsea in 1936.
In 1940 Edward married his wife Teresa (Cipriano), with whom he
shared the next 61. Around that time he moved to Malden and
became a Police Officer. During his 33 years as a police officer
he received many commendations. His seniority eventually earned
him badge #2, whch he carried for many years.
He was a coach for Malden Little League Baseball, coaching the
Senators for many years. He was also an avid sportsmen, he
enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as golf.
He was a long time member of St. Josephs Church. He was also a
Member of the Malden Moose, and a past member of the East Side
Athletic Association.
He is survived by his wife Teresa, sons Daniel R. Casey of
Melrose, and Robert E. Casey of Wilmington: Sisters, Rita
Bognore of ME , Theresa Lavender of Malden, Katherin Casey of
AZ, Lorretta Nuzzo of AZ ; and brothers Robert L. Casey and wife
Helen of FL, and Gilbert Casey and wife Evelyn of AZ; and sister
in law Elaine Casey of AZ. He was also survived by grandchildren
Ann Marie Casey of Malden, Mary Ellen Casey, Allison Casey, and
Joseph Templeton of Lowell, Monica Casey and Heather Casey of
Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his son Edward G. Casey formerly of
Malden, , his father Simon, his mother Mary Jane (Bernard)
Caissie, formerly of Chelsea, and his brother Henry Casey,
formely of AZ.
Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home on Monday
from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at 10:00
A.M. at St. Joseph's Church. Rev. John A. Daley, Pastor of St.
Joseph's Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the
Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden
