Daniel Ellinger

Richard
Daniel Ellinger, 83, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away
at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford,
Massachusetts. He was born April 20, 1928 in Malden,
Massachusetts the son of Daniel and Ethel (Negas) Ellinger.
Richard was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from
Malden High School with the Class of 1946. After High
School he attended Northeastern University before joining the US
Army to serve during the Korean War. Richard was
discharged having served honorably and he returned to Malden. For many he
years he worked in the Maintenance Department of the Malden,
YMCA before taking a custodial position with the Malden School
Department. He worked at the Lincoln School and the Daniels
Schools, before retiring as the Senior Custodian at the Linden
School.
Richard was a
member of the American Legion Post 69 in Malden, and the VFW
Post 639 of Malden. He enjoyed watching all the local sports
teams, and for years was active with many activities at the Y.
He is survived
by his loving sister, Margaret Bernstein of Niagara Falls, NY,
his cherished nieces, Carol Eisenhauer
of East Brentwood, NH,
Janet Rabice of Clinton, NY, and Sarah Rabice of Clinton, NY,
and his caring friend, Barbara Adams of Malden.
Richard was
preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ethel Ellinger; and
his sister Florence Adams
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, January 12th, at the
Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
Visitation
will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00
PM to 8:00 PM
