Doris M. Evers

August 31, 1937 - June 14, 2010
Doris
M. (Green) Evers died at the Tippett Home in Needham, MA on
Monday June 14, 2010 after a long illness, she was 72. Doris was
born in Malden on August 31, 1937 the daughter of the late Howard
and Ivy (Ord) Green. She was educated in the Malden school system
and was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1955.
After
high school Doris was employed with the John Hancock Insurance
Company in Boston. After the Korean War Doris would meet her
true love Thomas G. Evers on a double date. The couple later
married on April 27, 1957 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish in
Malden and remained in Malden where they raised their family.
They had four boys Thomas, Leonard, Daniel, and William.
When
Doris’ boys got older, she took employment with the Malden City
Water Department as a clerk. She worked for the city for the
next 20 years until her retirement in the early 2000’s. Doris
and Tom were married for fifty-two years until Tom’s passing in
December 2009.
In her
spare time Doris enjoyed her time with her loving family at
different family events and with her grandchildren. She enjoyed
traveling with her husband Tom on trips to New Hampshire. She
enjoyed her time spent in Florida during the cold winters of New
England. Doris also enjoyed a good long walk and her
involvement with the Walk for Hunger yearly walks.
Doris is survived by her sons, Thomas G. Evers and his wife
Patricia of Melrose, Leonard T. Evers and his wife Laura of
Natick, Daniel T. Evers and his wife Mary Beth of Chapel Hill,
NC and William T. Evers and his wife Patricia of Braintree. She
was the loving sister of George and Leonard Green both of NH,
Arthur Green and his wife Helen of Wakefield and her
sister-in-law Sally Green of Wakefield. Doris was the cherished
grandmother of 12 grandchildren.
Mrs. Evers was predeceased by
her husband Thomas G. Evers and her brother John Green.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visiting hours
in the Weir- Mac Cuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on
Sunday, June 20, 2010 from 4-7 PM. Contributions in
Doris memory may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 175 Highland
Ave., Needham, MA 02494.

funeral will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Mon., June 21st.
at 10 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Episcopal
