William Francis Ford

William
Francis Ford, 89, a longtime resident of Malden, passed
away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Whidden Memorial
Hospital in Everett.
He was
born February 9, 1922 in Trenton, New Jersey and was the son of
John and Annie (Coffey) Ford. Bill was raised in New
York, NY. After completing his education, he enlisted
in the US Marines and served with the 1st
Battalion during WWII. After he was discharged, he
continued to serve with the US Marine Reserves until
1953. On October 14, 1951, he married his sweetheart,
Doris Pike, and they settled down together in Malden.
After Bill's retirement, they enjoyed traveling and
vacationing
in Florida every winter.
Bill
and Doris shared nearly 60 years together until Doris'
passing earlier this year.
Throughout his life Bill worked as a maintenance man. He
was first employed at the Simplex Wire and Cable in Cambridge
until its closing. He then worked at the Charlestown
Naval Shipyard before working at the South Weymouth
Naval Air Station, until his retirement in 1987.
Bill became active in the community. He was a member
of the Centre Methodist Church,
the VFW Post 639, and the
Mount
Vernon Galilean Masonic Lodge, all in Malden. He was
also an active member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in
Wilmington, where he served on the Directors' Staff as
Treasurer, as well as serving
as a Commander of
the Knights Templar.
He is
survived by his nieces, Diane E. Roche and husband James
of Lynn, Linda L. Bruce and husband Walter of
Wilmington, Dorothy Walters of FL, Kathleen Sanacore of NY,
and Patricia Campanilli of NY. He is also survived by
many other loving nieces and nephews.
Bill
was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Pike) Ford,
his parents, John and Annie Ford, and his siblings,
Howard Ford, Anna Schultz, and Lillian Lang.
Visitation will be in Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 4
p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November
14, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home,
144 Salem St. Malden. Pastor Charles Hartman of
the First United Methodist Church of Melrose will be
officiating. Interment to follow in Glenwood
Cemetery, Everett.

Mon, Nov. 14th at 11a.m. in the Weir-MacCuish
Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden.
Interment to follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett. Visitation will be held
in the funeral home on Sun. Nov.
13th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Late WWII Veteran, US
Marines.
