Mary
Elizabeth Foxon
Mary E. "Betty" Foxon formerly a longtime resident of Malden and
Melrose, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Sawtelle Family
Hospice House in Reading, she was 88. Born in the Faulkner
Hospital in Boston on February 10, 1921, Betty was the daughter
of the late Thomas A. and Ann C. (Robinson) Foxon. She was
raised in Malden where she attended the local school system and
graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1939. After high
school, Betty attended the Malden Business School where she was
educated to become an efficient and valuable administrative
assistant. She began working career at the Doe & Ingalls
Chemical Company. After a few years, she left the company to
take employment with the Montsanto Chemical Company. Betty
stayed with the company until her retirement in 1980.
In her younger days, Betty had been a very active person. She
enjoyed figure skating and roller skating, as well as other
sports like skiing and golf. Although generally a private
person, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of
Malden and she occasionally attended the Glendale Baptist Church
in Everett.
Betty is survived by her loving brother, T. Mark Foxon and his
wife, Dorothy of Reading, and her loving sister, Nancy Foxon
Dietz and her husband Raymond of Martinsville, VA. Also
survived by 8 nieces and nephews, 16 grand-nieces and nephews
and 8 great-grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her
loving sister, Faith Foxon Baekey, her loving niece, Joy
Elizabeth Foxon, and her loving nephew, Benjamin Garner.
A Memorial Service for Betty will be held in the First Baptist
Church, 493 Main St. Malden on Sat. June 20, 2009 at 2 PM. Rev.
Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the First Baptist Church will be
officiating.
Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 4 to 8
PM.

Baptist Church of Malden, 493 Main St, Malden, MA 02148 or to
the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St. Reading, MA
