Gertrude R. Moore Known as a loving and caring women.
Gertrude “Gert” R. Moore passed away suddenly Monday, February 15, 2010 at her home in Malden, she was 92. She was known as the family caregiver. Gertrude was born in Everett, MA the daughter of John E. & Catherine (Cotter) Moore. Gert was educated in the Everett school system and was a graduate with Everett High School Class of 1935. She resided in Everett for many years and later moved to Malden in 1985, where she resided for the last twenty-five years. Gert worked as a receptionist for a local window manufacturing company in Malden. She worked there until her retirement in 1960. In her early years, it was caring for her brothers & sisters after the sudden death of their own mother. Gertrude’s main love was caring for many of her ill relatives, friends as well as with their families and children’s needs. Her faithful caring for others in her extended family, was the Gertrude Moore that everyone knew and loved. She was always there with a helping and loving hand. At times Gert even moved in to their homes to help care for the ill. At one time or another, she cared for every one of her folks. Gert even going into her early eighty’s would take the bus and meet with her nieces in Boston for a day of shopping and lunch with no problem. She was the family pianist, always at the keyboard at different party’s playing different songs and getting everyone to sing along. She would have everyone gathered around the piano. This made for fond memories for everyone to cherish. She enjoyed spending time at her brothers & sisters homes for extended visits. She spent many summers on Beaver Lake in Derry, NH with her loving family relaxing and taking it easy. Gertrude was the loving sister of Joseph Moore of Texas and her very large extended family of nieces & nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and nephews. Gert was predeceased by her parents, John E. & Catherine (Cotter) Moore and 11 other siblings. Funeral service for Gertrude will be held in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:30 PM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home prior to the service from 6-8 PM
