James M. Gooding Sr.

 

     James M. Gooding Sr., died at his home in Kirtons, St.  Philip, Barbados, West Indies on March 24, 2010, he was 80 years old. Mr. Gooding was born in Barbados on November 24, 1929.  James was a longtime resident of Malden and was the husband of Beatrice E. (Hector) Gooding.

     Jim worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a toll collector and later became the Supervisor of the Toll Plaza. He worked for many years at the Sumner Toll Booth in East Boston before his retirement in March 1996.

     On December 29, 1984, he married his sweetheart Beatrice E. Hector. The couple was married in the Centre Methodist Church in Malden and remained in Malden. Jim had been a resident of Malden for over fifty years.

     In his spare time, Jim enjoyed working around his house and tending his garden. He enjoyed reading a good book and watching television. He had many talents that were applied around the homestead.  He enjoyed his trips back to his birth place in Barbados, visiting friends and relatives. 

     Jim is survived by his wife, Beatrice E. (Hector) Gooding of Malden, his children, Rosalind Nurse of England, Marva Gooding of Revere, Denise Gooding- Dudley of Lynn, Dennis Gooding of Malden, and Mark Gooding of Maine, his siblings Hubert Gooding of Barbados and Eunice Gooding of FL as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his son, James M. Gooding Jr. formerly of Malden, and his mother Constance Gooding formerly of Barbados.

Friends and relatives may call at the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 4- 8 PM.

    Funeral service for Jim will be held in the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10 AM. Rev. John R. Clarke of St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish, Malden will officiate.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
