Ernest Michael Gramolini

Ernest M. Gramolini, 82, died Wednesday evening, April 1, 2009 in the Winchester
Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Gramolini was a life long resident of
Malden. Born on August 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Peter and Adele
(Federici) Gramolini. Ernest served in the US Navy with the 36th.
Special United States Navy Construction Battalion, the 109th. and 134th.
Construction Battalion during World War II. He attained the rank of Coxswain.
He enlisted on October 5, 1944 and was discharged on June 20, 1946.
Ernest and his wife Edna were married on April 17, 1955 in St. Joseph’s Church,
Malden. They started a family and remained in Malden. The couple had 53 years
together until his passing.
Ernest worked as a master
welder for different welding firms in Malden area. He was a longtime member of
the VFW Post # 639 in Malden.
Ernest was the husband of Edna M. (Payne) Gramolini, devoted father of Peter of
Georgetown and his wife Beth, James of Saugus and his wife Nancy, Carol Di Orio
of Merrimack, NH and her husband Richard, Robert and his former wife Donna
and David and his wife Tracy, all of Malden, Jean Wentworth of Tewksbury and her
husband Jason. Loving brother of John Gramolini of Centerville, Angela Heath of
Malden, Teresa Quealy of NY and her husband John, Barbara Hall of Pembroke and
his sister-in-law Doris Gramolini of Braintree, cherished grandfather of Robert,
Matthew, Isabel, Nicholas, and Julia Gramolini, Christina and Nicholas Di Orio,
and Jillian Wentworth.
Ernest was preceded in death
by his brother, Joseph Gramolini, formerly of Melrose, and his sister, Mary
Bransfield, formerly of Malden.
Funeral will be held from the
Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Monday,
April 6, 2009 at 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s
Church, 770 Salem St. Malden at 12 noon. Interment to follow in Lakeside
Cemetery, Wakefield.

Sunday, April 5, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
