Sheila Ann Greer

Sheila Ann (Lally)
Greer, 74, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on
Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home in
Chelsea, Massachusetts. Sheila was born in Boston in 1936, the
daughter of the late John and Bernice (Smith) Lally. She was
raised and educated in Melrose, Ma, and graduated from St.
Mary's with the class of 1954. After high school, she attended
business school where she learned secretarial skills. In 1956,
she married her sweetheart, Ralph F. Greer, and the two shared
nearly 50 years together until Ralphs passing in 2005. Sheila
and Ralph settled down in Malden to raise their family and they
quickly became part of the community. Sheila worked as a
secretary for her Ralph’s automotive business. She was a member
of the Zonta Club of Malden, and was also active with the Bread
of Life organization in Malden. In another important part of
her life, Sheila had volunteered thousands of hours as a
volunteer at the Lahey Clinic, and had even been recognized in
1995 as the “Volunteer of the Year”.
She is
survived by her children; Karen E. Greer-King and husband Paul
of Melrose, Denise M. Greer of NC, and Ralph F. Jr and wife
Theresa of Peabody, her brother Kevin Lally of Peabody, her
sisters, Bernice Herrick of Reading and Alicia Gallagher of
Peabody, and her 3
grandchildren.
Sheila was
preceded in death by her husband Ralph F. Greer, and her
parents, John and Bernice (Smith) Lally.
Visitation
will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb 6th,
from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Funeral
services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, Feb 7th, at
8AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs
Church, 770 Salem St. Malden, at 9AM. Interment to be private.
