Charles
Theodore Hanson

August 11, 1930- December 21, 2009
Charles
T. Hanson died Monday evening December 21, 2009 with his family
by his side at Epoch Senior Health Care of
Melrose, he was 79.
Charles was born
on August 11, 1930,
the son of Arthur H. & Gertrude E. (Miller) Hanson. He was born
in Revere and educated in the Everett School System.
Charles joined the
U.S. Navy in June of 1948. He served on the USS James C. Owen
(DD 776) and was discharged in May of 1952 in Key West,
Florida. Charles would later
meet and marry
the love of his life Rosemarie G. Cavignano. They married on
September 4, 1955 in
Our Lady of Assumption Church in East Boston, MA
and started a family. The couple later settled in
Malden and were married for 54 years until Rosemarie passed in
November of 1998.
After his
discharge from the Navy, Charles
worked as the service manager at his brother Arthur's company H
& H Industrial Truck Service in Woburn. Charles
later became the owner of the business in 1991. He continued as
the owner and service manager over seeing the daily operation of
his company. Charles
retired in 2005 after fifty
years with the company. Charles lived in Malden for 42 years
and was previously from Everett.
Charles enjoyed
his time with his wife Rosemarie at their vacation home in the
White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Charles and Rosemarie
enjoyed many trips to the Islands. His enjoyment was time spent
with his loving family and friends. He was an avid Boston
sports fan, following the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots
and Boston Celtics.
Charles is survived by his sister Dorothy Lynch of Everett and
brother Arthur Hanson of Lynnfield. He was the beloved father
of Randall J. Hanson of Malden, Gail M. Scalli of Seabrook, N.H.
Stacey A. O'Rourke and her husband Thomas of Malden. He was the
proud grandfather of Michael L. Scalli and Janelle M. Scalli of
Newbury, Randall J. O'Rourke & Ashley A. O'Rourke of Malden.
Charles Hanson was preceded in death by his wife
Rosemarie G. (Cavignano) Hanson, his brothers Raymond Hanson,
Walter Hanson, and Francis "Hank" Hanson all formerly of
Everett, Frederick Hanson formerly of Somerville and George
Hanson formerly of Arlington.
Friends and
relatives may call the Weir Funeral Home on Sunday, December 27,
2009 from 4-8 p.m. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society in honor of Charles' memory.
Funeral will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 9
AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church,
770 Salem St., Malden, at 10AM. Interment will follow in
Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
