Mary
Hargreaves, 91, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away
Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center
in Medford, surrounded by her loving family. She was born,
1919 in Midvale, Utah, the daughter of Joseph and Florence
DiCisto. Mary was raised in Utah, and graduated from high school
there. . While living there, she met John P. Hargreaves, who
was stationed in Utah during WWII. In 1946, at the close of
WWII, John brought Mary to the Malden area where they were
married and settled down to raise their family. Mary became an
active member of the Center Untied Methodist Church, and would
often volunteer for the different functions held with in the
church. She also loved sewing, quilting, and needlepoint work.
In years past she had also worked with ceramics. Another thing
Mary was known for was her baking, and her family always
enjoyed her cookies and apple pies.
She is
survived by her husband John P. Hargreaves, her son, Paul A. and
wife Lisa A. Hargreaves of Byfield, MA, her daughter, Karen L.
and husband Al R. Zappy of Peabody, her sister, Anne Rogers of
AZ, her brother Darrell DiCisto of UT, and her grandchildren,
Erica Wainer and her husband Chris, Abbey Hargreaves, and Edward
Hargreaves.
A memorial
service will be held Friday, Nov 19th, 2010 at 11:00
AM in the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 577 Salem
Street, Malden.
