Phyllis Rouillard Hodgson

Phyllis R. Hodgson (Rouillard),  82, of Epping, NH, formerly of Melrose and Malden,  died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the  Exeter Hospital in Exeter, New Hampshire.  Phyllis was born in Braintree, MA.  At an early age, she moved to Malden with her family.  She graduated from Malden High with the class of 1945.  In 1951, she married her sweetheart, John G. Hodgson, in St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish in Malden, and the two settled down in Malden. They lived in Malden for about 15 years before relocating to Melrose, where they spent the next 45 years. After the children had grown, Phyllis took employment with the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, where she performed patient billing and bookkeeping duties.  She retired in 1992. For many years, Phyllis served as troop leader for both the Campfire Girls and Cub scouts.  She was also a member of the Rainbow Lodge.   Phyllis was a crossword enthusiast, and was also very passionate about bowling.  She kept in bowling leagues for as long as she was physically able, and even after that made a point to watch bowling on tv.   She had also recently learned computing, and enjoyed chatting and playing bingo with friends on-line.  Mrs. Hodgson has lived in Epping, New Hampshire for the past two years.

She is survived by her husband John G. Hodgson of Epping, NH, her children,  Jack Hodgson of Dover, NH, Beth J. Hodgson  of Nottingham, NH, Judith A. Johnson of Rochester, NH, David A. Hodgson  of Warren, VT,  and Scott E. Hodgson of Nottingham, NH, as well as her grandchildren,  Brittany, Zachary, Cassie, North, and Katy.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  Arthur and Margaret (Friberg) Rouillard, and her sister M. Jeanne Jones.

Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Wednesday, Sept 9th, from 4 - 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at  1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rev. John R. Clarke of St. Paul's Episcopal  Parish will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
