Octavie
Juliette LeBlanc
Octavie J. (Bourque) LeBlanc, of Amesbury, formerly of Woburn,
Lunenburg, and Malden, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the
Harborside Healthcare - Maplewood in Amesbury, she was 87. Born
on February 5, 1921 in Eelbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was
the daughter of the late Leander and Adele Bourque. Octavie was
raised and educated in Canada. She began working as a nurse in
Canada before she moved to the United States in 1964. Her
husband, Edmond W. LeBlanc, had left Canada to find work as a
carpenter in Malden. Octavie came down with her younger
children to reunite with Edmond. She found nursing work at the
Dexter House Nursing Home in Malden. She worked for over 15
years until she retired in the mid 1980’s. Edmond passed in
July of 1988 after the couple had spent over 46 years in
marriage together. Octavie moved out of Malden to her
daughter’s house in Lunenburg. Heartbreakingly, Octavie’s
daughter, Mary Ann with whom she lived with, passed away. She
then moved with her son, Wayne to his home in Woburn before
finally moving to Amesbury where she lived for the past couple
of years
Octavie is survived by her children, Deanna Bourque Sluice
Point, Nova Scotia, Canada, Virginia D'Entromont of Pubnico,
Nova Scotia, Canada, and Wayne R. LeBlanc of Amesbury, her
brother, Desire Bourque of Ste. Anne du Ruisseau, Yarmouth,
Canada, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, as well
as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
In addition to
her husband, Octavie was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary
Ann Trickett and her sister, Cecille D'Eon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in
the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden
at 11AM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the
visitation one hour prior to the service. Fr. Paul J. Aveni,
Pastor of St. Mary Church of the Assumption in Revere, will be
presiding. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery,
Malden.
