Jean Frances
Lyons, 76, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on
Monday, February 7th, at her home in Malden. She was born in
1934 in Boston, the daughter of Harold and Caroline (Petersen)
Hyslop. She grew up in East Boston and graduated from E. Boston
High School. In 1955, she married her sweetheart, Richard
E. Lyons, and the two settled down to raise their family.
Around 1970, they moved to Malden, where they remained
,sharing over 40 years together until Richards passing in
1998. Jean was employed with the Malden Police Department
as a Detail Clerk for over 20 years, retiring from the
department in 2002. Jean was very devoted to her family.
She enjoyed the camping trips the family would take in years
past, and for many years they would vacation in New Hampshire. Jean was also a
past member of the Salvation Army in East Boston.
She is
survived by her children, Pamela Lyons of Malden, and James
Lyons of Malden, her sister, Elizabeth Nevenschwander of Geneva,
Indiana, her grandchildren Melissa Phillips, Eric Lyons, and Justin
Lyons, and her great grandchildren, Courtney Phillips and
Cameron Lyons.
Jean was
preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Lyons, her
parents, Harold and Caroline (Petersen) Hyslop, and her sister
Ruth Kirby
Visitation
will be at Weir – MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem
St, Malden on Wednesday, Feb 9th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, February 10th. at
10:00 AM in the funeral home, with Major Jim Guest of the
Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn
Cemetery in Everett.
