Scott J. MacAskill
1972 - 2017
Scott J. MacAskill, of Ipswich, passed away on Saturday, August
5th. Scott was born in Malden in 1972, the son of Leona (MacAskill)
Grace and the late Michael Griffin. He was raised in Malden and
graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1992. He
then attended Northeastern University where he received his
degree in Paramedics. He became an ACLS Certified Instructor and
would return to Northeastern to teach EMT classes. Additionally,
he was taking courses and working towards his nursing degree. As
a member of the Hamilton Fire Department, Scott attended the MA
Fire Academy’s Call/Vol Firefighter I/II class #052. Scott was
also a member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Club, where he taught
firearm safety courses. Scott also had been working as a
paramedic for the Beauport Ambulance Company in Gloucester.
He is survived by his mother, Leona Grace of Everett, his
uncles, Donald MacAskill of Revere, and Leo MacAskill of Revere,
his aunts, Linda Malone of Revere, and Lois MacNeil of FL, as
well as many cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Michael Griffin, his
grandparents, Angus and Theresa MacAskill, his aunt Geri
MacAskill, and his uncles, Charlie and Stanley MacAskill.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Thursday, Aug 10th, at
10am. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wed, Aug
9th, from 4pm – 8pm. Committal services will be private.
