Mary
Elizabeth Poore, 75, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away
suddenly on September 17. Mary was born November 26, 1934 in
Malden, the daughter of Daniel and Julia (Kelleher) MacDonald.
She graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1952. In Oct
of 1954, Mary married her sweetheart, Roy A. Poore, in St.
Josephs Church in Malden. The two then settled down in Malden
to raise their family. Aside from her role as a housewife and
mother, Mary worked for the City of Malden in the Census Dept.
She worked for the city for over 20 years, retiring in 1998 when
her husband Roy also retired from his job. Mary was an avid
reader, and also enjoyed traveling. However, what was most
important to Mary was spending time with family, whether it was
cooking a big family meal, or spending time with the
grandchildren, she was always there to support her family in any
way she could.
She is
survived by her husband Roy, her daughter Jean Marie and her
husband Paul C. Gibbs-Smith, her son Mark S. and his wife
Theresa M. Poore, her brothers Joseph MacDonald, Paul
MacDonald, James MacDonald, Thomas MacDonald, and Martin
MacDonald, her sister, Anna Hogan of Malden, as well as six
grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by herParens, Daniel and Julia (Kelleher) MacDonald and
her brothers Daniel and John MacDonald.
Visitation
will be held at the Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem
Street, Malden on Monday, from 4 - 8 PM. Funeral services
will be held from the Weir- MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on
Tues, Sept 21st, at 9AM, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Malden, at 10AM.
Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
