Lillian Alice McGough

 

     Lillian A. (Soule) McGough, of Malden, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford, she was 93.  Born on September 26, 1915 in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late George and Maria (Pendleton) Soule.  Lillian was born and raised in Wakefield.  She attended Wakefield Elementary schools until finishing her schooling at Melrose High School.  She was a graduate with the Class of 1934.  After high school, Lillian worked for some time at the then Malden Mills.  In 1942, Lillian married her sweetheart, Joseph A. McGough in Melrose and the couple moved to Malden to begin their family.  The couple spent over 34 years together, raising and caring for their family until Joseph’s passing in April of 1976.  Lillian was a dedicated mother and homemaker.  She loved taking care of her family.  She enjoyed helping her family and friends with seam stressing jobs.  Lillian was also a long-time dedicated member of the Good Shepherd Christ United Methodist Church in Malden as well as a member of the 630 Club in Malden.      

     Lillian is survived by her children, Ken McGough and his wife, Bunny of Malden, Irene Crosby of Malden, Helen Torode of Everett, and Laura and her husband, John Kupp of British Columbia, Canada, her grandchildren, Sean, Sharon, and Lisa McGough, Richard, Kyle, and Todd Crosby, Sarah Torode-Shea, and Alex and Brett Kupp, and her ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters.

     Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 4 to 7:30 PM with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 PM.  Rev. Ruth R. Odour, Pastor of the Good Shepherd Christ United Methodist Church will be officiating.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
