Edna M. Mercier
Edna Mae
Mercier, 93, a lifelong resident of Everett, died Monday,
October 13, 2008 at the Annemark Nursing Home & Rehab in
Revere. Edna was born in Everett in 1915. She attended the
local school system and graduated from Everett High with the
class of 1933. In 1935, she and Louis J. Mercier were married,
and the two settled in Everett to raise their family. The two
shared over 35 years together until Louis' passing in 1971.
Over the years, Edna has worked at both Polaroid and Trasitron,
but raising her 6 children was an occupation all its own. Edna
was an avid reader and also liked to keep her mind sharp with
regular crossword puzzles.
She is
survived by her children, Yvonne M and Richard Danforth of
Mashpee, Joseph P. Mercier of Everett, Jeanne E. Nash of Malden,
Richard A.Mercier and Nancy McGonagle of Tewksbury, William
E. and Rita Mercier of Everett, as well as 22 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and her
nephew, William Berglund of Reading.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Mercier, her parents,
Edwin G. and Florence E. (Long) Barnes, her son Robert E.
Mercier, her sister, Dorothy R. Berglund, and her grandson
Richard Danforth.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 10AM at the
Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden. Rev.
Randall P. Ferrara of The First Church in Malden, Congregation
will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the
Glenwood Cemetery in Everett. Visitation will be held at Weir
MacCuish Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 from 4 to 8
PM.
