Robert Ernest Noke
Robert E. ‘Bob’ Noke, 60 years old, died August 1, 2008 at the York Hospital,
in York Maine. Bob was born on February 18, 1948 in Malden, MA. He was the son
of the late Ernest and Muriel (Hammond) Noke. He graduated from Malden High
School and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam conflict.
After he was discharged he worked
for the Gillette Company in Boston and later at Spirit Manufacturing in Malden
and Wakefield as a production supervisor in charge of plastic injection
molding.
After moving to Maine, he owned
and operated Biddeford Aquarium. Bob was known for his sense of humor and
displayed what looked like a live bird (his African bird fish to those who
asked) swimming in a fish tank with another fish.
Bob was an animal lover, who
enjoyed his shop. He was also able to travel to Africa several times on camera
safaris. In addition to raising and selling fish in his shop, he also enjoyed
fishing in the ocean.
Bob is survived by his son, Adam
C. Noke of Brentwood, NH; his daughter, Wendy Madi of Londonderry, NH; his
brother, David C. Noke of Saugus, MA, his sister, Muriel ‘Mimi’ F. Cataldo of
Boston, MA; five grandchildren; and his dear friend, Heather Johnston of
Kennebunkport.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday,
August 11, 2008 from 4-5:30 PM at the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home,
144 Salem St., Malden. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home
following the visiting hours at 5:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers,
contributions in Bob’s memory maybe made to the Mass Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA- Angell) Attn: Donations, 350 S. Huntington, Ave,
