Catherine "Katy" Richards
Catherine "Katy" (Hessel) Richards, 87, a longtime resident of Malden died Monday, August 1, 2011 in Ossipee, New Hampshire, with her family by her side. She was born July 20, 1924 in S. Portland, Maine the daughter of Carl and Florence (Alexander) Hessel. She came to Malden at an early age where she was raised and educated. In February of 1945, she married her sweetheart, Ralph J. Richards, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. They shared 30 years together until Ralphs passing in 1975. Catherine was very family oriented and was a proud Matriarch for her family. She enjoyed traveling with friends, as well as crocheting and puzzles, had for many years had collected dolls. She is survived by her children, Susan J. Walsh and husband John, of Malden, Ralph J. Richards Jr, and wife Linda of Salisbury, and Joan Taglieri, as well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 grt grt grandchildren. Catherine was preceeded in death by her Husband Ralph, her parents, Carl and Florence Hessel, her sisters Phyllis Ruvido and Dorothy D’Onofrio, her brother, James R. Hessel Sr, and her son-in-law, Robert Taglieri. Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden of Fri. Aug 5th, at 9AM followed by Services at the First Church of the Nazarene, 529 Eastern Ave, at 10AM. Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thurs, from 4-8PM. In Lieu of flowers, Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, 11 Nancy Dr, Monroe, CT 06468, in recognition of Gt. Grandson Colton. |
