Mr. Arthur  Junior Schulze

Arthur  Junior Schulze, 89, a retired firefighter for City of Malden, where he worked for 32 years, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

He was born July 24, 1922 in Malden, Massachusetts the son of Arthur G.  and Edith M.  (Linsott) Schulze. Arthur was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High with the Class of 1941.  He then enlisted in the US Army where he helped our countries fight in WWII.  He served in Europe and North Africa and saw action in parts of Italy including Naples and Rome.  He was discharged in 1945 having attained the rank of Teck 5.  In 1947, he and his sweetheart, Barbara L. Prince were married in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Malden.  They then settled down in Malden to raise their family.  The two shared 62 years together until Barbara's passing in 2009.  Arthur had joined the Malden Fire Dept, first working in the Central Fire Station before moving to the Maplewood Fire Station.  He was with the fire department for 32 years until his retirement.

Arthur was a avid baseball player, and had played for the US Army team while on active duty, and for many years was the star pitcher for the American Legion team in Malden.  With his family being his priority, Arthur turned down many offers from professional baseball teams.    He also enjoyed playing basketball, and even as he got older, continued to play at the YMCA.  He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling in years past.

Arthur and Barbara enjoyed traveling and camping all over the country and Canada in their camper, something the whole family would do every summer.  They also traveled all across Europe after Arthurs retirement.

He is survived by his daughters,  Dorothy E. Busi  and husband Robert of Malden, Carol L. Curtis of NH, Nancy J. Mancino and husband Alfred of Hampstead, NH, Joan E.
