He was born August,  1925 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of George and Mary  (Tobin) Sherman. Ed was raised and educated in Boston, graduating from English High School with the class of 1943.  After high school, Ed enlisted in the US Marines to help our countries fight in WWII.  He served in the pacific theatre where he saw action and in China where he helped build a school for children.  He was discharged in 1946 and returned to the Boston area.  Ed married his sweetheart, Ellen E. Foster, in 1948 in Boston.  They moved to Indiana for a time while Ed attended Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana.  He received his degree in Electrical Engineering, and they returned to the Boston area where Ed went to work for the MBTA in the power department.  He retired as a supervisor for the MBTA, and continued to work as a consultant.  Part of this consultant work brought him to Kuwait where he worked for 11 months.  Even in this religiously repressive environment, Ed was able to find other Catholics that he was able to regularly celebrate Mass with.  For many years Ed volunteered at the Bread of Life assisting with their dinners.  He helped them with the preparation and clean up from the meals they provided.  He also volunteered for 7 years for the Mystic Valley Elder Services as a Shine Counselor.  Ed was also an active member of the American Legion of Malden  and the Malden Elks.  The most important things for Ed in his life was his family and his religion.
