Obituary Notice

Louise Loretta Smithell

Louise Loretta Smithell, 91, a  housewife a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, Massachusetts.   She was born August 16, 1920 in Malden, MA,  the daughter of Angelo and Lucia (Mustone) Ruggiero. Louise was raised in Malden.  After marrying her sweetheart, Domenic Smithell, they remained in Malden to raise their family.  Louise was a long time dedicated member of St. Josephs Church in Malden.   She enjoyed going out dancing on weekends with her husband Dom, but what was most important to her was taking care of and spending time with her family.      

She is survived by her sons, , Robert A. Smithell of Stoneham,  Frederick J.  Smithell  of Malden, and Ronald P.  Smithell of Atkinson, NH, her brother,  Anthony Ruggiero of Malden, her sister,  Phyllis Pinciaro of Stoneham, as well as 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Domenic, her parents, Angelo and  Lucia Ruggiero,  her brothers Alexander Ruggiero and  Domenic Ruggiero; and her  sisters Grace Cantone,  Rose DiMinico,  Josephine Guiliano, and Elizabeth Santangelo.

Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street,  on Sunday, November 13th,  from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM  

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov 14th, from the funeral home at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden, at 10 AM.    Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
