Paul Edward Sweeney

 

     Paul E. Sweeney, of Bedford, NH, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at The Arbors of Bedford in Bedford, New Hampshire, he was 78.  Born on February 26, 1932 in Medford, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Katherine (Ludwig) Sweeney.  After he graduated high school, Paul enlisted into the US Army to help fight during the Korean War.  He was enlisted on November 10, 1952 in Boston.  Paul was discharged on October, 19, 1954 at Camp Kilmer, NJ, having attained the rank of Sergeant.  Paul attended Bentley College and was a graduate with the Class of 1965, earning his bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  He worked for many years as an accountant for the State of Massachusetts. 

     Paul is survived by his daughter, Paula Austel of Cortlandt Manor, NY, his sons, Gerald Sweeney of Chelmsford and Daniel Sweeney of Hudson, NH, his siblings, Larry Sweeney of Acworth, GA and John Sweeney of Woburn, his niece, Kathy Sweeney of GA, and his step-mother, Eleanor S. Sweeney of Malden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Sweeney, Francis Sweeney, Doris Stuyvenburg, and Eleanor Giuffre.

Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 4 to 6 PM.

     Family and friends are welcomed to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11AM to meet for a graveside funeral service that will be held at 12 Noon in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA.
