Anderson Doris Obituary

a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Mar 11th, 2012, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Doris was born and raised in Somerville. She graduated from Somerville High with the Class of 1949. She later attended Tufts University where she receive a Business Certificate. After high school, she took employment with the John Hancock Life Ins. Company. She worked there until her marriage to Wesley E. Anderson Jr, in November of 1959. The two soon moved to Malden where they raised their children. Once the children had grown a bit, she went to work for the City of Malden in the Building Department. After over 20 year of working for the city she retired.

Doris was an active, dedicated member of the Good Shepherd Methodist Church of Malden. She was involved in many aspects of the church, including serving as a Lay Leader and teaching Sunday school. Doris also enjoyed bowling, and participated in leagues until just recently.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wesley E. Anderson Jr., her children, Wesley "Andy" Anderson III of Saugus, James K. Anderson and wife April of Malden, Christine J. Talbot and husband Benjamin of Peabody, David B. Anderson and wife Linda of Wilmington, and Julie L. Anderson of Wakefield, her brother, Kenneth O'Brien and wife Nancy of NY,. Her sisters-in-law, Jean Fenderson of NH and June Sandoe of FL., her grandchildren, Nicole, Bobbi-Lynn, James, Brian, David and Kevin, her great-grandchildren, Arycelis and Alex, and her dear friend of 75 years, Claire Tanner of Arlington.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie(Anderson) O'Brien, and her siblings, Marjorie McMillion, Frederick O'Brien and Richard O'Brien

Funeral services will be held at the Good Shepherd Methodist Church of Malden, 577 Salem St, Malden on Thurs, Mar 15th, at 10AM. Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Wed, Mar 14th, from 4-8PM. Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery.
