Barbara Amelia Bonin

Barbara Amelia Bonin, 77, a longtime resident of Malden, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in April of 1934 in Somerville, the daughter of Gaitano and Amelia (Cotallio) Monaco. Barbara was raised in Somerville, graduating first in her class from Somerville High with the Class of 1952. In November of 1955, she married her sweetheart, Alfred G. Bonin in St. Clements Parish in Medford. They lived for a time in Cambridge before settling down in Everett to raise their family. They shared over 45 years together until Alfred's passing in 2001. Barbara had worked as a bookkeeper for Jordan Marsh before taking a similar position with the Ruby Wine Company in Everett. She worked with them until her retirement at the age of 65, when the company moved to Avon. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a dedicated follower of Jeopardy, and was also a wonderful cook, and to her, family was her most important thing and what her world revolved around.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey L. and wife Maria "Chris" Bonin of Methuen, George A. Bonin and partner Kermit (Justin) Meacham ofMalden, Michael G. and wife Kimberly G. Bonin of Newton, NH, and Barbara A. Bonin of Malden., her sister, Mary Clifford of Everett, and her grandchildren, David Andrew Modugno III, Katelyn Elizabeth, Danielle Marie, Joshua Michael, and Alyssa Rose Bonin extended family members, and personal friend, Marie Juko, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Alfred G. Bonin, her parents, Gaitano and Amelia Monaco, and her siblings, Rosatia, Augustino, Carpina, Luchia, Luigi, and Gaitano.

Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Wednesday, December 28th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29th, from the Weir Funeral Home at 8:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clements Church, Medford at 10AM Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
